This week we focused on kinematics once again. Obviously, my blog this week will be about volleyball. This is a picture of my dear friend Ku'ulei. Here she is hitting what we "volleyballers" call a slide or step-out. When the setter sets the ball, the ball will usually always have the same pattern of velocity and acceleration when it goes up and comes down. Once the hitter contacts the ball, the velocity increases due to the time it takes for the ball to either hit the ground or into the arms of an opposing player. The speed of the volleyball increases over time.
